And My Story Waits Like a Restful beast

This chapter is significant because it shows just how terrifying Aminata's experience really was. She establishes that her journey feels like she is in the belly of a Tiger. The ship is a powerful beast and they were rotting on the inside. In this chapter, she speaks with the abolitionists  about her experiences, and how she is being treated. This chapter has many powerful quotes including: " Sometimes I imagine the first reader to come upon my story. Could it be a girl? Perhaps a woman. A man. An Englishman. An African. One of these people will find my story and pass it along. And then, I believe, I will have lived for a reason."  This quote is extremely important because it shows her thought process for what she is going through. She knows that people who read her story will be shocked at first but there is a very good chance that it will have in impact in peoples lives.

Blog #3 - The title.

In class, we are currently reading "The Book of Negroes". This title has had mixed reviews but I feel that these reviews are unfair. People need to remember that literature is art, and therefore not everything involved is going to be loved by the average person, and may be seen as inappropriate. The book of negroes is an actual historical document that is a major part of the freedom of slaves in the late 1700's. The censored title in the US, "Someone Knows My Name", is not terrible but does not have the same affect. The reason Laurence Hill made the title "The Book of Negroes" is because it is the backbone of the novel, and is definitely the best option.

I preferred the suitcase lady short story because I found it more interesting than trenches, and also because it's more applicable to my life. I have never been in a trench or in a war, but have been on queen street in Toronto many times.

Hey folks!

My name is Logan Guitard and I am a highschool student who enjoys reading. Writing has never been my strong suit or favorite thing to do per say but with my current course load I don't have much of a choice but to make the best of it! I enjoy reading fiction stories, especially ones that involve mythical creatures (as lame as that sounds) such as the lord of the rings trilogy and the harry potter series. One goal I have for english this year is to maintain a 90 average, and also continue to get better at writing essays and other key things for school assignments.
