Blog #3 - The title.
In class, we are currently reading "The Book of Negroes". This title has had mixed reviews but I feel that these reviews are unfair. People need to remember that literature is art, and therefore not everything involved is going to be loved by the average person, and may be seen as inappropriate. The book of negroes is an actual historical document that is a major part of the freedom of slaves in the late 1700's. The censored title in the US, "Someone Knows My Name", is not terrible but does not have the same affect. The reason Laurence Hill made the title "The Book of Negroes" is because it is the backbone of the novel, and is definitely the best option.

I personally agree, the title doesn't necessarily have the same effect in the US. I feel like Hill could have come up with a stronger title than "Someone Knows My Name"...
